A tradition in Sweden (and maybe elsewhere) is to light candels every sunday for 4 weeks before Christmas.
The 1st week you light a candel and let it burn for sometimes, the 2nd week you light 2 candels, the 3rd week you light 3 candels and so on until christmas.
And even candel holders are dedicated : I love this one with two reindeers'heads on each side. soooo swedish...
